TaskAhead Privacy Policy

TaskAhead is a local-first, place-based reminder application. No account is required in the current beta, and TaskAhead does not operate an advertising, analytics, synchronization, or user-profile server.
Information stored on the device
TaskAhead stores reminder text, place names, selected coordinates, trigger settings, schedules, active hours, saved places, suggestion history, language preferences, and application configuration locally on the user’s device. TaskAhead does not currently provide cloud synchronization or cloud backup.
Location and background location
When a user enables location alerts, TaskAhead uses precise location in the background, including while the app is closed or not in use, to detect arrival at or departure from locations explicitly selected by the user and display the corresponding reminder. This is the application’s primary function. Location is not used for advertising or to build a user profile.
Users can decline or revoke location access in Android settings. Automatic place alerts will not operate reliably without the required location access.
Early alert while driving
If a user explicitly enables Early alert while driving for an arrival reminder, TaskAhead uses physical-activity recognition and a brief foreground location service near that reminder. The service checks location and speed for up to eight minutes, requires speed to remain above the user-selected threshold for at least 15 seconds, and stops when the check completes, the reminder leaves the approach area, or driving is no longer detected. This is used only to determine whether an earlier alert should be shown. The setting is optional and is unavailable for departure reminders.
Google Maps Platform and geocoding
TaskAhead uses Google Maps Platform and Android geocoding for place search, place details, maps, and navigation links. Target-location search text, location context, and map or place requests may be processed by Google to provide those features. The Places SDK may also collect request and device metadata, IP address, a Google Maps Platform identifier, and SDK crash diagnostics as described in Google’s documentation and privacy policy. Google states that Places SDK data is encrypted in transit.
Voice Quick Add
Voice Quick Add is started only when the user taps the microphone. TaskAhead invokes the speech-recognition service selected on the Android device. TaskAhead does not store the audio recording. Audio or transcripts may be processed by the device or speech-service provider according to that provider’s settings and privacy terms.
Sharing and directions
Sharing is initiated by the user. TaskAhead displays a preview first. Reminder text and place name are included, while exact coordinates, schedule, and active-hour details are excluded unless the user deliberately includes them. The receiving application processes shared content under its own privacy policy.
Opening Directions sends the selected destination to an external maps or navigation application chosen by the user.
Diagnostics and feedback
The in-app feedback action can include app version, selected application language, permission readiness, registered-alert count, scheduling readiness, and battery status. It does not automatically include reminder text or saved locations. The user chooses the application through which feedback is sent.
Data retention and deletion
Deleting a reminder or saved place removes it from TaskAhead’s local storage. Uninstalling TaskAhead removes its remaining local application data. Because the current beta has no TaskAhead account or developer-operated cloud database, there is no separate server copy to request for deletion.
Security
TaskAhead limits its own storage to the user’s device and disables Android application backup for the current beta. Requests made to Google Maps Platform are encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children’s privacy
TaskAhead is a general productivity application and is not designed specifically for children. The final Google Play target-audience selection will reflect the intended release audience.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when TaskAhead adds services or changes how information is handled. The updated date at the top will identify the latest version.
